My boss was giving me instructions on where to go and how to take the metro back home... alone. This may sound crazy to some but I've never been on even Marta alone. Whenever I drive through the city... just driving through it it's overwhelming because I just want to look at everything but have to drive at the same time ... this does not mean that women can't drive.
Well the whole time he's explaining how to get home I just kept picturing my mom laughing saying "Ha! Alexis? She's directionally challenged... no way." Well where do you think I get that from! But hey I did it! After taking one train to the next, walking through the city a few blocks... I successfully made it. It reminded me of when I learned how to drive and my Dad would explain to me how to get everywhere by streets and that women know things by places but it's better to know by streets... the next day my mom goes when you drive just look at the places around you. Well I definitely remembered things by this sign and that monument today.
Well the reason I was on the metro in the first place was to have lunch with my boss and his wife along with another professor. I learned another thing:
5. Chorizo is amazing

If you haven't tried it it's like spicy sausage salami and it's amazing. We walked through the area and saw the gorgeous Plaza del Sol which is kind of like our five points. It's where the metro meets up in the middle but it is WAY prettier. I also love the narrow streets in the city. It's just so colorful!

Don't forget sometimes things are on the left but then.... It changes!!!

ReplyDeleteYou will never be small town again. You are already learning what you are capable of, and the world is wide open to you. Live big, kid. Just stay safe and aware of your surroundings, and soak it all in.
